Context
Scality deploys its RING object storage solution for defense-sector customers, on classified sovereign environments where every manual step is both a risk and a cost.
My mission: make this deployment fully automated and reproducible, from infrastructure provisioning down to the system and network configuration of the storage nodes.
Sovereign Infrastructure as Code
- Terraform modules for GCP Assured Workloads (an S3NS-equivalent foundation).
- OpenStack deployment on OVHcloud (OPCP) for sovereign environments.
- Instance provisioning fully driven by Cloud Init.
Automation and system foundation
- Deployment scripts guaranteeing a 100% automated install, with zero manual intervention.
- System and storage configuration: Rocky Linux, RAID.
- Networking: LACP link aggregation and strict environment segmentation.
Results
- Solution install reproducible identically across every customer environment.
- Zero manual intervention: the full deployment is scripted end to end.
- Meets the requirements of classified defense-sector environments.
